Great Wedding Entertainment

Great Wedding entertainment is the requirement of all would be couples for their intended Nuptials’, the most important advice needed is to be prepared. This might sound very simplistic, but you have to be prepared for any event! Those of you who can afford a party planner/organizer are very lucky, but choose wisely in this area, trust friends experience with such organizations, but the really good ones don’t come cheap. However let’s look at what’s available for as little cash as possible, bearing in mind that you get what you pay for!

The Internet is littered with DJ’s looking for your business, and apart from party ideas (Games/dresses/favors/ limousines  etc etc),you could spend the rest of your life looking through the available competition trying to sort out what’s right for yourselves on your special Day.

Shotgun weddings aside, it would be reasonable to expect you to have at least 6 months maybe a year or more before the date, so you have plenty of time to research your target,ie: someone who will give your party a real sense of value for money in return for what you are willing to fork out in this area. As this depression deepens we’re all looking for value for money, so first it is as well to organize the venue for the reception first, whether this is your local hall/Pub/restaurant or Hotel.

Hotels and Pubs(entertainment ones), usually have a list of DJ’s working for them on a regular basis, so you can afford to be guided by the respective Manager as to who will suit your purpose and how much they charge. You don’t have to go on this advice but it’s a good starting block. Having got a list of potential list of DJ’s get along to as many of the Gigs they perform at as you can, you don’t have to introduce yourselves, just watch and listen from a distance. A good DJ will keep the floor as full as his talents permit, providing it’s the kind of music you want at your party.

After a number of these outings you should be able to come up with a short list of the DJ’s you like. All you have to do is approach them and find out as much as you can about their previous experience and if your lucky some may also have released their talents at a wedding. Better still they might be performing at such a party soon, why not gatecrash, most wedding parties won’t mind especially if they know what you’re after, most wedding parties ignore gatecrashers in small numbers anyway! So get out there enjoy yourselves and watch out for the DJ who really loves His/Her music, and with any luck you’ll end up with some really great wedding entertainment, YOURS!!!

Aprés New Year Celebrations

Well that’s another Christmas and New year over and done with, hope you all had a good one! One thing I noticed over the past year is the calming down of the Party requirements with the current Depression hanging around. Unfortunately it’s going to be with us for some time, the net effect that people are looking for value for their hard earned currency. Many new Dj’s have appeared on the scene with their new found iPod toy’s and docking bays spreading their wings out into the professional arena! I wish them all the best of luck in this demanding environment.

Home Parties seem to be gaining a lot of new fan’s, mainly because of the cost of a night out on the Town, never mind the imposition of smoking restrictions and drink driving bans. It makes a lot of sense for people to enjoy their “night” out in relaxed circumstances of their own or friends home, handy for cab’s etc. This an obvious opening for our newbies with their iPod docks etc, and I sure there was some good times had over the holiday period by many using this form of entertainment.

Party Season

The party Season approaches and you’re probably wondering how best to to get the most product for your budget. Let’s concentrate on Mobile disco services. you have already been around the block a couple of times looking at services on offer in this area, and probably even viewed a couple if not more YouTube files to find what you’re looking for. At worst you have already consumed a fair ammount of time without getting bogged down in how great this or that DJ thinks they are, and how long they have been in the business etc.etc. You have been told how many records(tracks) they have on offer and probably even been able to compile your own Party list from the music available on their websites. As mentioned in earlier blogs for any 2-3 hour gig the choice will be down to around 60 tracks or so, so by the time you have listed all your favourites, your probably leaving the dj with very little scope to implement his/her persona on the proceedings. Today’s average person has a wealth of music available with their own ipad service or whatever, plus tv music channels ,and not forgetting the humble radio and all the different variants now available via DAB and the Web. Most professional DJ/VJ’s have a reasonably flexible ‘set’ that they employ for various scenario’s whether a themed night (80′s for instance) or straightforward Current Music Club Dance night. These ‘sets’ have been worked through and had time spent on them,to get them right. They probably won’t vere away from this ‘set’ no matter what your input, and to be fair imposition of your choice of music will cramp their style and end up being a disapointing night for both the DJ/VJ and the party audience! When out clubbing very few partygoers have the opurtunity to inflict their choice of music on the resident DJ/VJ, as he/she plays their ‘set’. sometimes management have a tight control on the venues Music output anyway, leaving little scope for’requests’. Don’t be to concerned about your playlist, it’s good to have one and give your presenter a good idea of your music likes/dislikes, but in the end leave it up to your choice of DJ/VJ they are the proffesionals and have a pretty good idea of what works and does’nt work to keep the crowd excited, and i’m pretty sure everyone will have a great time.

Next….Equipment?
Well they all have proffessional equipment and the best of everything, well they would say that would’nt they! Unfortunately things can and do go wrong from time to time, whether an amplifier burns out or lighting rig blows bulbs, all this has happened to me in the past, and I’m sure to a lot of other DJ/VJs, most mishaps can be covered with spares some even profess to have everything in duplicate…..just in case. However any longstanding DJ/VJ will be aware of possible problems, and will usually have enough savy to work out procedures to get to the end of the ‘Gig’ to everyones satisfaction, but it can be traumatic at times and put’s the DJ/VJ under enormous pressure to ‘get it right’! All my equipment has been specifically built for the job, in particular the Hand made speakers constructed out of marine ply using Klipsh horn design for maximum efficiency(less strain on the amplifiers), more than ten years old now with only an update to 15″ drivers, some 6 years ago, and can ‘fill’ most auditoriums up to 1,000 people, and yet can still supply suttle HiFi quality in a domestic scenario(House Party), to satisfy the most ardent audiophile.

To those of you paying attention, you will have noticed the term DJ/VJ throughout this blog. When I first started(a long time ago),Discotheque was someting the french implanted on the English language, giving some status to “the Fella with The Record Player”. Nowadays I would’nt do a gig without full Video capabilities. I have played around and progressed from Mono to Stereo even quadrophonic sytems which have all been great fun, but the Video(VJ) aspect truly leaves all the other progressions behind. This holds true providing the Sound system matches the truly mind blowing aspect of a Video Presentation. Some VJs rely on plasmas for their video output, I prefer projectors to encompass the venue in the AV experience, giving in my opinion a ‘concert’ feeling rather than just watching the telivision at home. Having said that I have all the necesary ‘gismos’ to connect any available ‘screens’ that are available for the party no matter how far from the stage area.

All my DJ’s both male and female will work with you to make your party a memorable night, but bear in mind all of the above you get what you pay for,but I’m not adverse to a little bargaining. So whether you want a themed night or karaoke or both or even equipment to hire for a ‘Race’ night or charity do, just pick up the phone anytime and we can arrange to meet. Thanks for your time.

Wedding DJ to Make it The Perfect Wedding day

The final week before your wedding day could be a stressful time, overflowing with a miriad of particulars that need to be confirmed. Some of the last minute points that have to be completed in the week before your wedding day incorporate confirming the facts of your honeymoon, packing for your honeymoon, giving the caterer a final count for the number of guests, confirm points with the photographer, florist, Wedding DJ or band and the limousine driver.

If the couple are hosting a rehearsal dinner, now is also the occasion to confirm these arrangements. It’s critical to attend to all of these tasks but it is also important to take a while to get some rest and relaxation as well. If you have friends and family members who are willing to help you out, you can delegate nearly all of these chores to reduce the stress of the final seven days before your wedding day.

The first thing to think about is whether you wish a live band or a Wedding day DJ to perform at your wedding. There are a handful of things to think about when choosing between a live band or a Wedding day DJ. The first thing is price. A Wedding day DJ is liable to cost considerably below a live band. A Wedding DJ is usually just one person or possibly two people while a band typically consists of a normal of about five performers. Right there is where you normally see an increase in cost because the fee for the  band is typically split between quite a number of people and as a consequence higher than the fee for one or two Wedding DJs.

Most caterers also require a final count for the number of guests in the seven days preceding your wedding. If all of your guests have not yet replied to your invitation, you might want to think about calling them instead of assuming that they’ll not be coming to the wedding ceremony. These calls can save you the humiliation of not being prepared for additional guests. Having a confirmed response from all of your invited guests will ensure that you give the caterer an accurate number of guests.

The most significant tip for deciding a live band or Wedding day DJ is to ensure that you have the chance to see them perform before you invest in their services. Most live bands and Wedding DJs that perform at weddings gain popularity through their performances at other weddings. The best method to find a live band or Wedding day DJ that will do a good job at your wedding ceremony is to make use of a live band or Wedding DJ that you enjoyed at the marriage ceremony of a buddy or members of the family.

The rehearsal dinner is commonly held the night time prior to the wedding day so it is important to confirm the points of the rehearsal dinner in the final week before the wedding. Whether the pair by themselves are hosting the dinner or one other person is tackling the responsibilities of the event, it is still required to confirm all of the facts like time, location and number of guests. Also, since the happy couple normally use the rehearsal dinner to thank their parents, the wedding ceremony party and anyone else who has supported them in the wedding planning, now would be the occasion to arrange precisely what you decide to say during this offering of thanks. While it is important to speak from the heart, it’s also important to confirm that nobody who has really gone out of their way to serve the couple is missed off the special thanks section.

You may find that there is a selection of live bands and Wedding DJs available to hire in your location. This could make choosing one a hard task. One great way to ensure that you are making the right choice over a good live band or Wedding DJ is to seek suggestions from close friends or family members. If you haven’t attended their wedding or maybe don’t remember their entertainment, ask them if they would recommend their live band or Wedding DJ. If they do come highly recommended, ask your friend or relation if you can borrow a copy of their wedding day video. Pay special attention to the parts of the video where the invitees are dancing and choose if you consider whether the live band or Wedding DJ might work best for your wedding day.

Although you may be sure that you wish to rent a particular band or Wedding DJ but try to interview at minimum three to five possible candidates before making your final decision just for comparison. You may feel more familiar with a service provider or that there’s another band or Wedding day DJ that suits your needs better than your previously preferred candidate. Finally, once you make your decision confirm details of the contract including deposit/payment methods to suit all parties.Enjoy!

I am having a small outdoor pavilion wedding. The wedding party has 2 groomsmen, one MOH and a flower girl. Music will be played on an acoustic guitar. I am having trouble figuring out how the timing works. Obviously its not going to take a whole song (3ish minutes) to have the wedding party walk down the aisle, how do i cut a song short. Same as when I (bride) walk down the aisle. What do people do? let the song play out or just find a way for it to mellow out?
